Description
This lakeside park is easily overlooked by visitors attracted to the nearby Hamlin Beach State Park. Although this 743 acre lakefront park offers an excellent panoramic view of Lake Ontario and 274 campsites (some with beautiful lake views), it lacks a public swimming area. This shortfall is obvious on hot summer days when Lakeside Beach is near-empty while there are packed crowds at Hamlin's shores.

The park does offer numerous fishing and picnic opportunities as well as 4 miles of hiking and biking trails. For some, the absence of a crowded beach makes this park a quiet, peaceful getaway from nearby Hamlin. One could also camp here if the Hamlin campsites are all booked.

In winter this park is popular for snowshoeing, cross country skiing and snowmobiling.

History
This park simply started out as farmland and lakeside cottages. With the popularity of Hamlin growing, the state began buying land in 1962 and and established a park in 1968. In the campground area you can still see evidence of the land's past in the form of concrete foundations from old cottages.
