Man falls into gorge at Havana Glen
Montour Falls -- An unidentified 20-year-old male hiking with a friend in Havana Glen Park on Wednesday evening went over a handrail as he was about to take a picture and fell into a gorge.
Schuyler County first responders spent hours trying to rescue the fall victim. At press time, the man still was not out of the gorge.
At one point during the evening, a call went out over the police scanners for more lights and generators.
A website called nyfalls.com says that Havana Glen Park, on the south end of Montour Falls, includes Eagle Cliff Falls which is 41 feet high with a 16-foot-wide plunge in a nearly enclosed amphitheater of rock.

hmmm, I'm wondering where he went over a handrail exactly...it's not like the area where there are handrails are hard to get to

hmmm... the only place I can think of is in the narrow section of the gorge where you can't really get a decent pic of the falls below.

They have metal railings there. Either it failed or he was doing some climbing.

Geez, that isn't much more than a 20' drop there I believe. Plus I would think rescue would be fairly easy in the lower gorge. Any railings upstream of Eagle Cliff?

Sounds like he was in the upper gorge.
