A rather cliche shot, of a lesser known vegetable. Who knows what it is? My money is on Brenda - but someone should try to beat her to the punch!
And David S. - my money is always on you to make note of the time posts are made.

Damnit! I'm going to have to butcher some celeriac or rutabaga if I want to fool you, Philip!
And Brenda, get those tasty gourmet breakfasts made and delivered earlier so you can get here before the swimming pepper guy!!

What does it taste like and what did you use it in?
I love that second one, Kelly!

Texture of celery. Raw, it tastes and smells like anise. I know some people eat it raw, but most will saute it in olive oil, or add it to stews and the like. Its raw/whole state is that of a bulbous celery bunch. Once cooked, I didn't notice much of the anise flavor, which I appreciated!
I was chopping it for use in this
braised short ribs dish. Once cooked the flavor is more subtle and melds nicely with the other veggies in your dish.
Here's a pic of the fennel as you buy it. This was my first time cooking with it. You can use it all - bulb, stems and "leaves".

Doesn't look like too many people like their vegetables... I bet you'd have a better response with desserts!
Had to go back a couple of years to find this one...my summer garden on Sodus Bay.
