The purpose of these challenges is to encourage us to get out and get the best shot of an assigned subject. It's a great way to enhance your photography skills.
Even if you think you take crappy pictures, please join in. Those of you just reading the forum and not posting, this is your chance to join in and show off.

[important]These challenges are always open to your personal interpretation of the topic. Don't feel obligated to take anything literally. Thinking differently than everyone else might be what puts that trophy in your hot little hands. Good luck![/important]

This month's challenge: "Vegetables"

Image

Only rules:
It has to be taken by you.
It has to be taken in Upstate NY. *

A winner will be selected based on the following criteria:

-subject
-creativity
-use of color (or lack thereof)
-uniqueness

* Photos taken outside of Upstate NY are welcome for display as long as they are labeled as such.

Nope. There are no restrictions on when. Just on where.

Of course those shots are awesome. But my mind is stuck on how you would get those peppers in the first shot to sink below the surface on a drop. I would think hollow and light, as most peppers like that are, would just splat on the surface and float.

It should come as no surprise that one of my favorite David Letterman segments was "Will it Float?".

Thanks Matt! I usually do not give away my tricks but here goes. it is a 2 flash system 0ne flash off to the left and pointing down at an angle to the fish tank full power, second flash diffussed and in front off to the right half power, need to use at least 200th of a sec exposure or faster, aperture will depend on the power of your flash. Fish tank is a little over half full. Camera angle should point slightly up to capture refection. Then the drop, yes Kelly they do go under but not for long, they come right back up so timing is critical. It takes a few tries to get your timing just right. second and third are the same lighting and it is just throwing water at the peppers timing here is really tough but after many tries I got it. Also requires a large wingspan or a remote I went with the wingspan seeing mine is over 6 feet.
