Partridge Run Game Management Area waterfalls

Postby L_G_D » Mon Nov 16, 2009 8:56 pm

There are a couple shots of some of the waterfalls in this area, but they are in the general photography section. Also, they seem to be of the other set of falls, though I haven't been to those yet. These two are on the main stream through the park (can it really be called a park?) a tributary of the Switz Kill. I was there once when there was no water, so yesterday after the hurricane dropped a bunch of rain Saturday, there was quite a bit of water. Enough that I had to take off the shoes and wade across the stream in the very cold water barefoot.

A couple hundred feet upstream is this set:

These are described in Dunn's Mohawk Region book on page 201

Nice! Theres so many falls in this state and so little time. Thanks for continuing to showcase these falls.

very nice! the adjacent evergreens make for great color year-round. this one kind of reminds me of twin falls near watkins.

The other small stream in the area has some nice falls as well. Dunn describes these on page 204 of the Mohawk region guide.

This first set is two falls about 20-25 feet apart. From the angle I shot them, they almost look like one drop.

Downstream there is a really nice set of three falls, one after the other. From the bottom, all three:

I have updated the Google map in the first post to include these as well.

Oh yeah, if you happen to go there, don't believe your GPS when it tells you to drive through the area on Partridge Run Road, the bridge is out and you can't drive across the area to the other side on that road. Two different GPS programs have told me to drive that road so far.
