I had the same thoughts, and I don't even have your eye/talent. I wouldn't dream of submitting for this--it's so out of my league, but I couldn't help but look at some of those shots and think that I could have done better!Matt wrote:There's a lot of crap and I find myself thinking "Why would someone think this would be good for a book?" for a lot of them.

go for it. Your flower shots are good enough... but any shots of small-town finger lakes neighboorhoods would do well I think. There's a pet section too!

This is one of the flowers from the arrangement that Matt sent me for being a loser...but he is proud of me.

The trillium photo was taken at Stony Brook State Park about two weeks ago. It's been an especially good year for trilliums, at least around here. Helicon focus was used to get depth of field from three exposures each focused at different distances.
The apple blossoms were in our "backyard"; we have about 12 acres of ancient apple trees now largely overgrown, but the blossoms are beautiful.
The dame's rocket, locally known(incorrectly) as phlox, is visible everywhere along the roadsides here around May 30th.

I don't think I've seen Stony Brook like that. Usually all the wildlife in that park is trampled by guests by mid-summer.
Great shots!
