I absolutely love that first one. You should sell prints of that, if you don't already.

I ran across this web site with Stumble Upon. This has to be some of the worst, overbaked HDR imagery I've ever seen. Surely this is a joke? Most of these don't even resemble photos, more like bad cartoons.

wow... what garbage.... looks similar to the HDR group on Flickr. I have a feeling some people are really into this form of photography and consider these to be outstanding photos. They don't look that bad--- as thumbnails... but from experience with HDR they look horrid (noise and chroma issues) at full size. I don't feel they are even impressions of the scenes...they don't resemble what a human would experience at all..
Technically they are just whacked out curves... I can turn any JPG into these with photoshop...
Just flatten the curve... putting all colors in the mid-range- exactly what a photographer would want to avoid.
In all my years of working with HDR, whenever I got results like that, I started over- never thinking that was acceptable.
I'm actually quite happy with the level of quality I've been getting out of HDR, but it has taken me years. I've been using Photomatix since the first version. Only now I feel I have one thing left to tackle- color shift (especially greens).
