I'm pretty sure this used to be called Barnes Falls (see attached postcard from 1907). Thank you for finding it! I always wondered where it was.

I don't think this is Cornell Hollow Falls. The person sitting at the bottom of the falls shows the scale of that pool, and no area that large exists at Cornell Hollow -- it is a narrow and steep, but shallow gully.MapleBark wrote:I'm pretty sure this used to be called Barnes Falls (see attached postcard from 1907). That pool looks more like Buttermilk Falls, although the falls looks much shorter. I did a quick search on google for a Barnes Falls in Owego, NY and found several old postcards like this. All of them showed this falls which looks very similar to Buttermilk, just not high enough. It's hard to tell with the trees in the shot -- they may block the view of more of the falls.
I'm leaning towards this being a different falls, mainly because it gives me something new to look for down here!!
