Maxon Creek State Forest is known as Pease Hill State Forest on many maps. It's not far from Morgan Hill/Tinker Falls. The north county trail passes through the state forest and there is a spur trail called irish hollow that leads to Maxon Creek. The creek can also be accessed from Pease Hill Road. There is a logging road opposite the entrance to the Maxon Creek State Forest access road where the official DEC sign is. This logging road will eventually take you down to a cleared area near the creek and you can bushwhack the last 30 yds. Neither route is easy as both involve a mile or more hike with a steep 500 ft climb either to or from the creek, depending on which access you choose. There are a few small (<5') falls on both Maxon Creek and the Irish Hollow Tributary and some larger seasonal tributary falls. While the falls are nice, this one has to be more about the adventure and challenge in order to be enjoyable
