A note from the NYFalls.com founder:
Due to a company restructuring, I will be losing my full time job soon. Although it saddens me to leave the company that I have helped build up for the last 14 years to the success it is today, I am looking forward to new opportunities. I am known for my technical, managerial, and creative abilities, and I hope to utilize all of those talents in my next career. I put together a résumé outlining my skills and projects. Please have a look. Although I am open to any management position, I would like to leverage my experience and success with NYFalls.com and NYHistoric.com into a career in the WNY travel/tourism industry. If you know of a company that would benefit from someone with talents and experience, please spread the word. Thank you for your help and support.

Love Oliver's...never had Henry's.

Why so many?

because the quality and the selection varies. Some shops specialize in diferrent things. Some keep with the only traditional items, others innovate. It's a nice adventure. Also, west of Rochester many of these shops are still classic "Sweet Shops" -- in that they still serve ice cream sundaes and/or have soda fountains. the last of our Sweet Shops (Rochester) closed many years ago... well... Peter's still does candy. Louie's Sweet Shoppe which used to be in my old neighborhood on Thurston Ave closed in the 80's I think. The Diner in the Strong Museum is loosely based on it.

I like to keep these remnants of the Depression alive by spreading my business around. We have several shops in Rochester, Oliver's in Batavia (which is the least of my favorites), a ton out by buffalo, and a couple in Syracuse.

How do people react when you come in and start taking photos?

Growing up in Batavia we always went to Oliver's so that's why I'm a fan. I like that their chocolate has a smooth milky flavor and is not overly sweet like some chocolates. Chocolates that are overly sweet make me feel sick to my stomach.

i use a compact. I was thinking of bringing my wide angle tomorrow... so I will see how they react.

Bill,
Not sure about sugar content in chocolate. I don't think I can pick up on it. I do have to admit... Oliver's makes the best molasses suckers, which are big in Buffalo, but last year I tried some from each shop in Buff, but nothing compared to the tiny ones at Oliver's.
