ok,
Does anybody know where I can hike with little kids (3 and 5) around the Newark area (with in 1 hour). My nieces want to go hiking with me and I told them we’ll go next time I come visit, which will be Labor Day weekend. Any and all info would be nice. We hiked with them last year at Letchworth the youngest one was in a back pack.

There are hiking trails at Montezuma, as well as the driving loop!

If they have a checklist of animals/plants/trees to spot it can help them keep busy.
Collecting is a great idea too.
Keep them on the lookout for things... give them a ziplock bag and ask them to keep on the lookout for flowers- and try to collect one of each color. Or pine cones... try to find the biggest one. Stuff like that.
