Why would one (who is concerned about people seeing their mobile number) type it into facebook in the first place?

When one signs up for any notifications via text message, a mobile number is required. Most provide it under the false sense of security umbrella/storm cloud. If Facebook allows one to set it up as "private", it must be so, right?

The phone number field was there so people can find you by phone number. It has always been this way for years, and yes, it does tell you when you first add it... and about a year ago, started synching phone numbers of your mobile contact book to facebook through the app (it tells you this too before you do it the first time). So if you used that, it also has your contacts too.

I dont know if anyone is aware of this but. If you go down your timeline to 2011 and earlier all of your private messages are displayed there. Not sure when this took place but I ckecked mine and all my messages were there. You are able to hind them if you choose. Not sure why they would do this, if you wanted the message to be visible to everyone then you would have posted it on your wall to begin with.

I see a lot of crap on mine. They aren't PMs but anything people wrote on my wall prior to timeline have become timeline posts. Annoying.
