Expiration dates on food

Would you use a cake mix (lemon, if you must know) that "expired" on April 24, 2010?

That's pushing it just a bit, I would think.

dried foods depends on a few factors...
1. Does it have dairy or live active cultures?
2. is it in paper, cardboard or moisture penetrable container?
3. Does it smell different?
4. Has the color changed?
5. Will the item be eaten without cooking?
6. Is the item all-natural or organic?

Answers yes to any of these, then don't eat.

Many expiration dates on heavily processed foods are there to "rotate stock"

When i was first living on my own... I went on vacation for 2 weeks ... came back found an egg roll in the fridge. I don't even remember when I ordered chinese at this point. Anyways. I ate this egg roll. And it was good.

Doesn't it usually say "Best if Used By" Not "Do Not Eat After ___ or You Will Die"? I'd eat it as long as it didn't have bugs in it.
