Yesterday, in a matter of one hour or so, I went deaf in my right ear.
Saw my PCP and then an ENT today. The cause is unknown. The hearing is pretty much all gone in that ear. The treatment was a painful injection of steroids into the inner ear. They don't even know the reason why that treatment works... when it does. it has been 4 hours since and no improvement- I am told to give it 1-3 days and led to think if it does return it won't be 100% I'm not sure if i will ever get hearing back in that ear. It sucks. My balance is gone... so no hiking for me until I can cope. MRI tomorrow to to rule out a tumor.

Matt,

:fear: That's terrible! I can't even imagine. I really hope it improves very soon. :getwell:

My husband recently developed what he thinks is Tinnitus, which is a perpetual ringing in the ears with no known cure. It's been driving him crazy - headaches, lack of concentration. He won't be able to see an ENT for two weeks to get a proper diagnosis, but at least he can still hear.

Matt, Sorry you have to go through this and I hope everything comes out OK. :getwell: Keep a positive attitude and throw away the headset to your ipod.
