Boy calls 911 on mom to avoid bedtime
Ten-year-old Dan Davis had no interest in going to bed. So he called the police for help.
His mother, Shamayne Rosario, had just given him the news Wednesday night that it was time to head to his room, but the fourth-grader had other ideas on school vacation week.

LISTEN TO THE 911 CALL

BROCKTON —
Ten-year-old Dan Davis had no interest in going to bed. So he called the police for help.
His mother, Shamayne Rosario, had just given him the news Wednesday night that it was time to head to his room, but the fourth-grader had other ideas on school vacation week.
Listen to 911 call.
“He’s like, ‘I’m gonna call the cops on you,’” said Rosario, 34, of Brockton, speaking on behalf of her son.
Shortly after 8 p.m. Wednesday, Dan was shuffling his way to the bedroom, but instead picked up the wall phone and dialed 911. He quickly hung up, but not before connecting.
“Then he just walked to his room and got under the covers,” said Rosario, a mother of six and a student at Massasoit Community College.
Brockton police, following protocol, returned the call. Rosario explained the situation, then asked her son to pitch in.
“Dan, would you like to talk to the police?” she is heard saying in the 911 call, “because you can’t be calling 911 when there is no emergency.”
Then she told the police, “He doesn’t want to come to the phone.”
False 911 calls are part of what a police department deals with every day, said Lt. Paul Bonanca.
“Most of it’s hang-ups, people calling 911 who didn’t mean to,” he said.
Regardless of what a person says, the department has to confirm all 911 calls in person, because police never know if it’s a situation in which someone was coerced into lying.

Police: Woman used spaghetti sauce, not bomb, to rob Clinton Township bank
It turns out that a woman had spaghetti sauce—not a bomb— when she robbed a bank in Clinton Township Saturday.

Police say the woman, who was about 60 years old, placed a cloth bag on the counter of the Fifth Third Bank at 34564 Harper Road just before 11:30 a.m and demanded money from the teller saying there was a bomb inside the bag.

Man Slices Arms With Saws at Calif. Home Depot
Police say a man deliberately cut himself with saws inside a Los Angeles-area Home Depot store, causing a gruesome scene in front of customers that left him severely injured.

West Covina police Cpl. Rudy Lopez says the man was in the store's tool section Wednesday when he grabbed several small hand saws and cut his arms to the bone.

Police found the man unconscious in a pool of blood.

An off-duty paramedic had been shopping nearby, and with help from police collected twine and rags from shelves and put makeshift tourniquets on both arms.

The man was in surgery, but his condition is unclear.

Camel gifted to French president is mistaken for food, made into tagine and eaten for dinner
PARIS — As if President Francois Hollande of France did not have enough trouble with a stagnant economy and a scandal over his former budget minister’s secret overseas bank accounts, now his camel has been eaten.

Grateful Malian authorities gave the baby camel to Hollande during a triumphant visit to Mali in early February, after French troops intervened to drive back Islamist rebels who had seized the north of the country.

The French president, who was traveling with his defense minister, Jean-Yves Le Drian, joked then that he could use the camel in Paris to get around traffic jams. But the animal screeched constantly and did not seem to enjoy the president’s attempt to pat it on the head. In the end, Hollande left his baby camel in the care of a family in Timbuktu.

The family, evidently misunderstanding the purpose of the custody arrangement, proceeded to slaughter the camel and feast on it. According to local reports, it was fashioned into a tasty tagine....
