Fall color with water

Postby backpacker » Mon Sep 24, 2007 11:18 am

Some times we have to think small.
This fall is only 6" high but the leaf adds character
comments welcome.

I agree, some of my favorite falls are small.

Here's a short one, though quite wide, with some fall color in it. :)

It happens to be part of the Taughannock State Park, the main falls of which is claimed to be the tallest in the state. (There are taller, but they do not run all year).

yes - fall can be very small and cropped:

I know I have one that would fit this but damn! it's lost in thousands of untagged photos!

I guess this one will have to do for now. no water.

I took this picture the same day as the snow and ice (oct 13th) but much lower elevation than the snow. I like the differents between the water flow from top to bottom.

OK all need some feed back on this picture. Does the tree distract you from the waterfalls?

I call this picture my 5-second shot, when I’m hiking I don’t study the scene and look for the best shot. I see something interesting pull up the camera, shoot and keep hiking, no tripod used and camera on program mode.

an object bisecting an image is never a good thing. Not a print that could sell, but if it only took 5-seconds and it captures the memory, then that's all that matters... and the colors are very nice.

The tree does draw the eye. Actually, there might be two nice separate images here, one on each side of the tree. Alternatively, if the tree was darkened a bit in Photoshop, it might not draw as much attention.
