Last night at Sodus Bay, on Lake Ontario, the shoreline bonfire inspired me to try an entry for this month's challenge (even though I didn't have a tripod handy.) I took several photos with people standing or sitting near the fire and liked this one best. It shows some animation in the movement of the woman beside the fire...and best of all, the sparks from the fire created dramatic "one second" trailing lines.

hah.. that's cool. I like those stray sparks that are separated from the fire. I never thought of doing long exposures on fire. Excellent idea.

nice capture Mikell
To become truly immortal, a work of art must escape all human limits: logic and common sense will only interfere. But once these barriers are broken, it will enter the realms of childhood visions and dreams.

I agree great shot Mikell. I did this a couple summers ago and it was a lot of fun teaching my family about long exposure at the same time.
