A note from the NYFalls.com founder:
Due to a company restructuring, I will be losing my full time job soon. Although it saddens me to leave the company that I have helped build up for the last 14 years to the success it is today, I am looking forward to new opportunities. I am known for my technical, managerial, and creative abilities, and I hope to utilize all of those talents in my next career. I put together a résumé outlining my skills and projects. Please have a look. Although I am open to any management position, I would like to leverage my experience and success with NYFalls.com and NYHistoric.com into a career in the WNY travel/tourism industry. If you know of a company that would benefit from someone with talents and experience, please spread the word. Thank you for your help and support.

Rochester Winter Waterfalls

Postby kidwings » Wed Dec 30, 2009 11:28 am

Hello All,

Over Christmas I was able to visit some of the waterfalls in the Rochester area. I had not been to most of these even though I grew up in Penfield. My father, who loves Rochester history and anything having to do with Rochester landmarks, had never heard of Norton Falls and actually took the short hike down with me. Anyway, here they are:

Linear Park
Personally, I didn't find these rapids all that interesting. Use to fish here as a kid. I walked WAY back on the trails hoping to find something interesting, and I think I did. I love the icicles that formed on the snow-covered fallen log with the tree reflections and wispy rapids.

I love the swirl effect you get of of the ice chunks - will definitely be going back to this place in warmer weather

Linear Park
Just an interesting icicle formation over a tiny side stream.

Norton Falls
Only my first time and no time to explore different angles. Definitely need some return trips!

Agreed

That first shot... the silkiness of the water.... I can't stop looking at it!
Excellent! I suppose I should leave the comfort of my 8- degree apartment and take some winter waterfall shots myself.

8 degrees? Maybe you should start paying your heat bill. Go outside and get warmed up. 8)
