I've been using a Nikon Coolpix P510 bridge camera. And I know that this camera has limitations both in F Stops and shutter speeds. Recently I bought a set of ND filters and CPL filter too. Everytime I shoot photos, I try using these filters to get better results. I've noticed that using the ND filters in mid day allows me to get smoother water flowing pictures too. I don't have to wait till dusk to get a good looking photograph. I still envy everyone who owns those really nice DSLR's, but they are out of my price bracket and the weight of carrying camera and extra lens around is too much for me. On another website that I get help with picture taking, there are a lot of professional photographers who own "bridge" cameras to take preliminary shots of whatever.

That's a very lovely shot, Marty!
Yeah! Bridge cameras (new term to me) definitely fit the bill on many occasions. I went through a few earlier versions of the Canon on the list below before I settled into my current camera. They are well worth the money, IMHO.
You're making yours work nicely for you. Keep it up!
Thanks for reminding me to get mine out and use it more often! Ha! This made me chuckle:

Best Bridge Camera of 2013The lens on the Canon PowerShot SX50 HS, for example, extends from 24mm to 1200mm (equivalent). No such lens exists for DSLRs, and if it did it would be so big and heavy it would need wheels, and so expensive you'd need a mortgage to buy it.

I think these are fantastic, Marty! Very dramatic. Since you asked for comments, I hope you won't mind me saying that they all leave me wanting to see more at the bottom of the frame. They feel rather cut off to me. Still lovely and nicely exposed.

I cropped them in HD. The woods was shot from roadside and the others were shot from parking lot. I didn't have snow boots and snow here was 12" to 18" deep. Here is a photo cropped larger than HD:
