Anyone have any ideas on what this is? It's not often that I"ll call a fungus beautiful but that's what this was. Orange cones sticking up through the moss along the side of the trail while we were hiking along the Ausable River. The largest of these was probably about 4" high.

I'm assuming that this mystery plant falls under the fungus category, but I could be wrong. It's coming up in loosely scattered groups in the raised bed on the south side of our cabin, so it's in full sunlight. The plant on the left shows what it looks like when it first emerges, and then it matures into the plant on the right. Fungi are not my forte to begin with, and I've been all over online trying to figure out what it is. Any ideas?

I actually had to contact one of my former professors to remind me about this. It's a species of horsetail or scouring rush: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Equisetum

It's more precisely field horsetail (Equisetum arvense).
