well i disturbed this snake while putting in some seeds..... (i am sure i frightened it more than it did me) but from where i come from ALL SNAKES ARE DEADLY!........

so on a first instinct level it gave me QUITE a startle.

its pretty cute and living out the front...... i am sure it is a common species but since it is small and most pics of snakes are adults i was unsure what it was called.

most likely a Garter
coloring depends on age and season. Should be safe to handle.

Yup. They will bite if they get tired of being handled, but they rarely even draw blood. They're more likely to musk you first, and boy do they stink. It's just the opposite here, Wendy. We don't have much of anything right around here that can hurt you!
