I have decided I'm going to fish this summer. I haven't been fishing since I was a little kid.
What do I need to buy/have/do?

Personally, I would recommend buying a decent all-in-one at Wal-Mart (I have a Shakespeare rod & reel combo), along with a small equipped tackle box to start. That way, if you decide that you're not really into it after all you haven't made a huge investment. The one piece of equipment that might not be included in a ready-made tackle box, but is absolutely essential is a pair of needle nose pliers.

If you like a fish that puts up some fight and a good fishing spot .. All you need is canned corn and strong test line. There is a nice place called May's Point in the Monazuma Area ... Nice place to fish .. Ray and I try to get out there any chance we get, and they even Rent Boats and there is a campground near by.

 I'll definitely defer to Champy on that one! It's a little too hands-on for me (not to mention my basic aversion to bottom-feeders). Did you happen to catch Mike Rowe's lesson in noodlin' on Dirty Jobs?
