Great, I'll keep it in mind for next spring, I've looked at the power line trail on maps, but was wondering about parking and accessibility. Someone mentioned that the land is private and that the park stewards keep an eye across the river for anyone wandering around over there, and call police when they see someone.

I really love the first one.

With spring around the corner these falls are about to become a raging river. The melt has started already but is progressing slowly.

Great shots & video, I was there Saturday just before noon and it was raging pretty good. Too bad the main viewing area isn't open yet, had to settle for the overlook.

Thanks LGD! It is a shame to have that park and not have it open when the falls are flowing at their highest levels. Have you ever viewed from the Waterford side? I live just on the other side of the falls. I can hear them at my house when they are really rippin. There is a trail you can take that brings you all the way up to to the dam that forms the canal for the Cohoes Falls powerhouse. When the water is low is a great spot to photograph birds, the water is shallow and you can walk right out on the riverbed. It can be slippery but with a beatup pair of sneakers I wade right thru the water. My last shot of the falls is from Oakwood Cemetery, very nice views of the valley from over there. Have you ever been to the Postenkill Gorge?
