This past summer on a bike day trip around the Mohawk Valley I stopped opposite Lock 7 when, fortunately, the river ran higher than normal creating falls between the power plant and the lock.

My point and shoot has this crazy feature where it can piece three separate pictures together to create a panoramic view - can you imagine? Maybe one day someone will invent a wide angle lens to do the same thing. ;) Then again, maybe someday I'll get a real camera. Anyway I got the camera to put together a picture of the river from Lock 7 to the power plant with the dam and falls in between.

Love it! That's got to be the widest falls in the state, right? It's huge!
I was reading that this falls was a huge problem for early French explorers. they couldn't get past it with ships, so upstream it was unexplored for a while.

Would love to see pics of the lock side of things if anyone gets around there.

You really shouldn't encourage me... ;)

Standing in Blatnick Park, on the opposite bank looking downstream towards the power plant and the lock.

Again from the same park, but at a different time of year with a little better view of the power plant and the lock.
