Just thought i'd post a pic from the Canastota Waterworks. I'm assuming this is where Canastota got it's water from at some point in time. Now all that is left is an old raceway with couple small drops.

Nice looking falls! Interesting Center Stone at top. Looks like there was pretty good flow too.

Sweet shot. I like the angle. And you nailed the exposure, even in difficult conditions. how tall is it?
Is that a man-made structure at the mid-top there?

Hi Matt. Thanks for the kind words. I just got a new Nikon D3200 and i'm trying to learn with it. Before this i've had several point and shoot models.
I think I would guess this is about 9 feet total. The top half looks man made. When the water isn't running well it looks like bricks or cut stones make up the top 5 feet. Then it bounces off a ledge of rocks and falls another 3 or 4 feet. There is a race above this falls leading to a small reservoir. Thats where you see what looks to be a manmade wall in the center of the waterflow. There is a structure off to the side of the falls that I think was an old pumphouse. The stone above the door says "Canastota Waterworks 1885" Then it has a list of names for water commissoners and contractors. My trips to the local library have turned up absolutely nothing on the subject. I would love to see some pictures of this place before it was ruins in the woods.

N 43.04329 W 75.75636 Will this help? There is a trailhead on Nelson Road with a small pull-off area for cars. The trail goes both ways. Head East from the pull-off area. The creek will be on your left. When the creek crosses the trail to your right it emptys into the reservoir. There are a couple paths off of the main trail that go up to the reservoirs edge. Just hug the rim to the far corner. If there is a lot of water running you can hear it. You can usually tell how much water will be running over the falls by how heavy the creek is running on your walk in.

I went here today, nice little falls. There is a parking spot at 6752 Nelson road, Canastota,NY. Then a 1500 foot walk a long trail path to the falls area. Unique area worth the look if in area.
