Today I rode past a small waterfall that I discovered last spring. If the picture looks a bit fuzzy it wasn't (for once) all the photographer's fault. That's how foggy it was today, with familiar buildings along the road sliding out of the fog and then disappearing out of view like ghosts. The fall is only a little bit of a thing, only 5 or 6 feet high at the most. I don't have a summer photo as the stream dries up in hot weather. 42.926557, -74.017714.

This is how the same falls looked in late spring. I discovered this roadside falls on a bike ride, noticing it when I happened to hear it as I rode by. I'm pretty sure the culvert carrying the stream washed out or damaged the road during Hurricane Irene, but the county did a good job of repairing the damage yet keeping the falls intact.

There's even a historic marker next to the stream...

A picture of another small unnamed falls near Crawford Road in Rotterdam, NY, that I took last spring while on a bike ride. I believe it's on the Moccasin Kill. 42.850199, -74.028792. About a mile up the Crawford Road is the Moccasin Kill Sanctuary with some small cascades of its own.

A 'Spring' photo...

In the first photo you can see a large rock just peeking over the edge. In the latest photo I think it did a Humpty Dumpty and now it's in pieces at the base.
