Dipper Brook

Dipper Brook is another stream that runs off Giant Mountain in the high peaks. It's not as flashy as Roaring Brook, with it's 300+ foot waterfall that is visible from the roadside, but Dipper Brook has a few nice waterfalls and makes for a decent creek walk on a hot summer day. I took these shots on just such a day back in August of 1994. I remember it was blazing hot that day as a matter of fact.

There are a few cascades & boulder tumbles on the lower section, but this is the first real fall:

A bit further upstream the walls start to close in and you start getting real waterfalls. This shot I include mostly to show the beautiful clear pool at the bottom of this fall, a little grotto if you will.

It was such a hot day, I really should have gone for a dip, and maybe have gotten a little better angle on that fall than this

This may or may not be the fall that's marked on the USGS topo maps, but it's as far as I went that day. After this, I hiked uphill to the dipper pond and then over to the washbowl and back down.

Looks like a really tranquil spot!

Nice photos
