Finally got back out in the creeks! Walked up from the middle falls to the upper, there's a couple of more in there. Good flow today!

Man falls, rescued from Carpenter Falls in Cayuga County
NILES, N.Y. -- A 65-year-old man was airlifted to the hospital Friday after falling and being rescued at a Cayuga County waterfall.

Emergency crews responded around 1:07 p.m. to 6031 Appletree Point Road in the town of Niles.

Cayuga County 911 said a 65-year-old man fell about 10 feet off a ridge at the falls. The Cayuga County High Angle Rescue Team responded to the scene to help in the rescue.

The man was later airlifted to Upstate University Hospital in Syracuse by Mercy Flight. His condition is not known.

The state Department of Environmental Conservation is handling the investigation of the incident. A DEC spokesperson could not be reached for comment Friday evening.

There are four waterfalls in a rugged ravine along Bear Swamp Creek. The largest, Carpenter Falls, drops about 90 feet.
