Re: ADK this winter

Lake Placid would work for all but Snowy, Blue, and Buttermilk Falls.
Cascade Inn is nice, around $60.00 a night with a good restaurant on site; their rooms are nothing fancy two beds TV and bathroom.

... more common ones I can think of off the top of my head. As for water falls just south of Long Lake is Buttermilk Falls. Roaring brook is on route 73 and any of the falls in the AMR land is easy ...

Buttermilk Falls looks like a very pretty falls. So how many Buttermilk Falls do we have documented in NY now? I can think of 4 off the top of my head.

My list is a little different -- falls I enjoyed that are off the beaten path. Not at state parks, but near them. 5. Lick Brook, Ithaca. A stone's throw from Buttermilk Falls State Park. Not spectacular, but far less busy than other Ithaca area falls. ...

oh, Julie just pointed out that in my straight on falls shot, the rock the falls is spilling over looks as though its sort of bowed upward. I guess that's the elevation phenomenon. It's an optical illusion.
